Best Marksmen For AP MF Support
- Jhin - Miss Fortune's Make It Rain [E] makes it nearly impossible for Jhin to miss his long-range crowd control ability. Comboing this mid-game into your ultimates works exceedingly well.
- Ashe - As a fellow poke champion with low cooldown, Ashe is capable of completely shutting down the laning phase of enemy players alongside Miss Fortune's poke. Ashe's initiation also provides some easy crowd-control to combo into Miss Fortune's ultimate, resulting in huge wins.
AP MF Support Runes Setup
Primary: Arcane Comet, Manaflow Band, Transcendence, Scorch
Secondary: Cheap Shot, Ultimate Hunter
How It Works
Extremely Short Cooldown Poke/Slow
At a mere 18 to 14 seconds cooldown depending on level combined with a 2-second spell duration, Miss Fortune's Make It Rain [E] compares directly with Ashe whose Volley [W] which is also an 18/14.5/11 cooldown at early levels. By staggering these spells one after the other, at rank 2 this effectively translates into getting poked and slowed in lane almost 30% of the time [4 out of 14 seconds] until they run out of mana. Even by herself, 15% of the time is nothing to scoff at.
Great Synergy With Items
Although Miss Fortune in the current age is slightly different from the early renditions of her build, she still acts as a debuff support that applies various item-based spells on enemies mid-to-late game. Using a single Make It Rain [E] allows her to proc effects from nearly every item she builds in this path, applying percentage health damage from Liandries + Demonic Embrace and grievous wounds from Morellonomicon with a single spell.
Excellent AP Scaling
Early-game Miss Fortune is extremely annoying in terms of sheer damage dealt and can scale quite well against less mobile champions. The reason for this is that although her base AP scaling is only at 15%, this is per tick. If you're able to keep enemies stuck inside the full duration with a marksman like Jhin, this results in an insane 120% AP ratio on a very short cooldown spell.
Potential Pitfalls
No Hard CC or Enchantments
Most supports generally pack some sort of hard CC and/or heal/shield. Miss Fortune does not have any of these in her kit, which means she does not fit a traditional support role. Instead, she fulfills the death is the hardest CC support role although she does have a good amount of slowing available in her kit.
Weak Against Strong Enchanters
Against a squishy champion like Miss Fortune, you would naturally think her worst match-up is someone like Leona or Blitzcrank. However, she actually does quite well against all-in supports since she can slow from a difference and zone off their effective engage window. The issue she has is mainly against strong enchantment supports that also have crowd-control to quickly stop her ultimate. By negating her poke damage using shields and heals, enchanters tend to make Miss Fortune's early game difficult by taking away her main strategy.
AP MF Support Conclusions
This pick is very easy to dismiss years after her first exposure to the world at large. However, in many cases she's surprisingly effective and if you can duo with a player who mains Jhin or Ashe, she can be quite good and will certainly make your opponents rage into blundering.
Suggested Tier: Tier 3
