Champions
Kog'Maw [Bot] - Colloquially known as the fountain of death, Kog'Maw's ability to deal massive damage after death means that enemies will be watching for his revenge. Meanwhile, he synergies extremely well with Renata Glasc's Bailout [E], which provides huge attack speed and bonus movement speed.
Zilean [Mid] - The original anti-death powerhouse, Zilean continues to thrive in 2022 and brings the high kiting power, crowd-control, and of course his signature anti-death move to this team. He also ramps up Kog'Maw even further as a hypercarry by boosting his movement speed. This turns the fountain of death into a moving turret.
Renata Glasc [Support] - A welcome addition to the rift, Renata offers massive crowd-control and more death-defying abilities. She synergies incredibly well with Kog'Maw and the combo performs exceptionally well in-lane against the majority of match-ups. They can have some trouble early-game, but once mid-game hits this combo is on par with Kog'Maw + Lulu.
Karthus [Jungler] - As a jungler Karthus is sometimes difficult to blind pick. However, in this team compositionm the solo laners generally have good priority early. This allows Karthus to confidently jungle knowing that his teammates can assist on invades. By giving him the opportunity to power farm and scale into mid to late game, Karthus takes the role of a pseudo tank in this game. He's a front-line that can't be ignored, but simultaneously killing him creates its own host of problems.
Akshan [Top] - One of the premiere lane bullies in the game, Akshan gives this team a second chance even after death using his passive. executing enemies weakened by Karthus is a breeze, and having a second marksman on the team combined with two supports gives this team absolutely insane damage output.
Key Concepts
- Consider running teleport(s) to take full advantage of Akshan's revival.
- Take advantage of the solo lane advantages early game in order to help Karthus scale.
- Whichever carry gets the most fed can be the targets for Zilean and Renata Glasc's supporting abilities.
Countering
Countering this team involves heavy burst, high mobility, and building healing reduction.
Here is an example team that may succeed:
- Veigar [Mid] - Kill squishy champions from a range
- Rengar [Jungle] - Take advantage of Karthus' weak early game
- Irelia [Top] - Decent against Akshan and gets into the backline quickly
- Blitzcrank [Support] - Remove threats from the heavy AOE
- Jinx [Marksman] - Strong snowball ability takes out enemies before they can revive
This team composition revolves all around burst damage, but be careful of Renata's ultimate which can shred your team very quickly.
