Guide to Playing AP Ezreal (Support)
Below is a guide on how to play AP Ezreal. We'll talk about how to play him, the rune set up, the item build, how AP Ezreal works, the drawbacks of AP Ezreal and how to counter it.
Why support over mid lane? Simple, AP Ezreal's waveclear is absolutely terrible. If you want to get shoved into turret 24/7 then mid-lane will do just fine for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for an offensive for-fun support that can 100 to 0 enemy champions at will, try out AP Ezreal support!
He might not pack much (any) crowd-control or much (any) actual support skills, but you know as they say...death is the hardest CC.
Jokes aside, as far as for-fun supports go, he's not the worst and deals a surprisingly high amount of damage. He's one of those champions that pops off like crazy on the enemy team and feeds miserably on your own. If you try him out, just remember to land your skill shots instead of not landing them and hopefully you'll do better than expected.

How to Play
Abilities: Q, W, E then prioritize R > W > E > Q
Summoner Spells: Flash + Ignite
Starting Items: Spellthief's Edge + Health Potion
Strategy: Focus on poking them down with Q, but this likely won't work too well once they catch on and start hiding behind minions. At this point you'll want to try and hit them with W and then follow up with E + auto attack for an instant Electrocute proc. Make sure to E into max range of your auto attack and not any closer.
Core Items: Frostfang, Sorceror's Boots, Luden's Echo, Rabaddon's Deathcap, Morellonomicon, Void Staff

How It Works
Powerful Damage Through Minions Waves
AP Ezreal has one specific benefit over AD Ezreal, and that is his ability to hit champions through minion waves using his W and E combo. This also gives him significantly more access to enemy champions over certain other poke supports like Vel'Koz. The range on his W is also much longer than expected at 1150 units, which is actually higher than Vel'Koz's 1050 unit Q poke.
Damage
Other than damage, there's not much else going for Ezreal. Sure he's got mobility, but he's largely going to be saving that mobility for proccing his W. Even if he doesn't need it to proc his W, it's still half his damage when it comes to AP Ezreal, so he can't use it carelessly without actually hitting enemies with it.
That being said, he does end up doing a considerable amount of damage and has excellent burst scaling. If you miss his W and/or his E he does absolutely 0 damage. However, if you land both with Luden's and Deathcap, you're looking at a clean 1200 to 1500 damage on single targets depending on magic resist.
Extra 10% Cooldown Reduction
Support Ezreal does have one more thing going for him over mid-lane Ezreal, and that's an extra 10% cooldown reduction built into his support item. This means he doesn't need to go out trying to squeak in an extra 10% cooldown and naturally gets full benefits from just Luden's Echo.

Potential Pitfalls
No Sustain/Crowd-Control/Support Abilities
But death is the hardest CC so it's okay. Unless you're not killing anything. Then you're getting reported kid.
Prone to Inting
As a champion that naturally presses his gap closer as his basic poke combo, much like the Lucian or Vayne players in your solo queue games, this version of Ezreal is prone to straight up killing himself. Understanding good times to jump in is an art form, and one that few players have mastered. Playing Ezreal support will help you understand optimal times to engage, and playing with Ezreal support will teach you optimal times to dodge.

Countering AP Ezreal
Dodging his skillshots is an excellent method of countering AP Ezreal. Meanwhile, if he lands his W on a target expect him to jump in relatively quickly. If you're ready to hammer him into little pieces when he does, remember that he's incredibly squishy and most enemies will likely be able to make him regret it.
Conclusions
AP Ezreal is a pick that's incredibly fun and can potentially snowball extremely hard against relatively low mobility, squishy champions. It does a surprisingly high amount of damage provided you land your skill shots, and if you can at least hit your W he doesn't need much else to 100 to 0 enemy champions.
That being said, he's definitely not your classic support and one of those high risk, medium reward type of champions. If you're very sure of your skillshots aiming and ready to absolutely style on your lane opponents, AP Ezreal support might be your new go-to pick.
However, for those of you playing in your proper division and experience regular bouts of cross-eye, I would veer clear of this one.
