Powerful Trading Patterns
Lux support used to be a mediocre pick with high mana costs and low returns. Years later, she's had her mana costs drastically reduced to the point where she works well as a utility support. Meanwhile, players have discovered a new rune setup that allows her to abuse enemies without fear of retaliation. By making a normally squishy champion difficult to kill, Lux has finally become a viable pick even for high-level solo queue games.

Rune Setup
How It Works
Shield Bash + Aftershock Survivability
These two runes combined give Lux an absolutely massive amount of magic resist and armor. This allows her to survive all-in champions like Nautilus and Blitzcrank where she'd otherwise naturally get gutted. Rather than instantly dying, she becomes nearly invulnerable to damage instead, allowing her to trade effectively,
Good Support Kit
Lux really has almost everything you want in a support, which is strong crowd-control and low cooldown shields. The only thing that really held her back is a lack of mobility, which led to her untimely demise more times than not against the majority of enemy laners. This build takes that weakness away and also makes good use of her shields, which scale surprisingly hard and provide AOE defense for her team.
Passive Usefulness
Generally speaking, in lane Lux support players tend to hang back and focus mostly on throwing just spells for fear of dying. Having Aftershock means Lux can freely proc her passive bonus damage without worrying about retaliation. This gives her significantly more poke damage, especially considering her base stats.

Potential Pitfalls
Lower Spell Damage
This build is much lower in spell damage when compared to the standard Arcane Comet Lux. As a result, you'll need to ensure that you make maximum use of your passive and Shield Bash in order to dish out enough to be effective.
Slow Shields
Lux specializes in long battles and can kite enemies to oblivion. However, she tends to face difficulty if she's up against heavy burst damage champions. On the other hand, if she can effectively keep her marksman alive through an initial all-in, her kiting power is enough for any hypercarry to truly shine.

Conclusions
Lux support in the current metagame is significantly different from the support Lux that players picked when they didn't really want to play support. This version of Lux focuses on survivability for both herself and her team, while using her offensive spells mostly for the utility they provide.
Suggested Tier: Tier 1
