This list takes out the unorthodox selections from the standard tier list and uses a data-driven approach to pick out what players are most afraid of and think are strongest.

In this patch, high mobility champions are even more valued than last patch largely as a result of world's. Meanwhile, Dark Harvest has been nerfed so players are going back to standard crit builds favored by high elo players.

The purpose of the "Flavor of the Month" ("FOTM") list is to show which champions are popular in today's metagame in terms of pro picks and high Elo choices.

Instructions and Caveats:

• This tier list details which champions are most popular in today's current metagame, for better or for worse. Selecting a high popularity champion and doing mediocre is always favorable to selecting a low tier champion and doing mediocre for team morale.

God Tier: These champions are common bans and are likely perceived as being "overall extremely strong/broken". They have very obvious and/or flashy skills that make them appear stronger than other champions. You'll likely see these champions picked early on if they're not banned.

Tier 1: These champions are the ones you'll see in the majority of your games and are good to familiarize yourself with as you'l be battling against them a lot.

Tier 2: These champions are relatively strong and have historically been picked more often than other champions. They may have been nerfed at one point at another, but are still perceived as strong in their current states.

Tier 3: These champions aren't quite as popular as the rest of the champions in the first 3 tiers, but picking them one at a time isn't going to cause much of a concern on your team. However, if you have a team of 5 of them your teammates are likely to feel a bit uneasy about your chances of winning in solo queue.

Tier 4: Selecting these champions will likely cause a rift between you and your teammates, who will proceed to flame you if you fail your lane. Exercise caution when selecting these champions, as team morale often plays a big part in victory or defeat.

Champion Explanations

• Akali [Tier 1 Mid] - Akali is by no means an "easy" champion to play, but once you get the hang of her trading pattern her ability to absolultely dominate her lane is incredibly high. She's completely different from the point and kill assassin she used to be, but she's been replaced by this skill shots dodging assassin with huge potential for outplay.
• Ezreal [God Tier Bot Carry] - Ezreal in his current form is still the same Ezreal we've all grown to know and love. It's not entirely clear whether his new rework made him stronger or not. However, his new W definitely makes it feel very rewarding to all-in enemy champions...maybe too rewarding judging by how many deaths per game Ezreal plays have compared to low mobility marksmen like Jhin.
• Irelia [God Tier Mid] - In the current meta, Irelia is absolutely dominant as a mid-laner. Top she has a little more trouble snowballing, but against squishy spellcasters she just has two dodge a single dangerous spell and proceed to annihilate those low mage health bars. This allows her to carry extremely hard via early damage.
• Kai'Sa [God Tier Bot Carry] - The world stage is certainly a place where the most skilled marksmen gather their strengths and of course the high potential of Kai'Sa does not go unused. Her current status as a hypercarry leaves almost every other hypercarry in the dust. While her early game isn't as good as Lucian, her late game is far and away better than other fan favorites like Vayne.
• Kayn [Tier 1 Jungle] - Similar to Kai'Sa, Kayn's raw potential as a jungler is exceedingly high. His ability to gank from difficult to see locations gives him high variability as a ganker and thus high success. Meanwhile, his ability to choose between red and blue gives him the versatility to switch to what his team needs. This is especially important in solo queue since players rarely think about what the team needs when picking champions.
• Pyke [God Tier Support] - Pyke's really come into his own lately. He's a perfect blend of utility and damage, making him an extremely powerful champion in the right hands. The best part is, your allies won't complain about you KS'ing with a reset champion!
• Ryze [Tier 1 Mid] - The ultimate team fight champion, players love seeing Ryze ever since they've witnessed his capabilities in the hands of world champions. While he's not nearly as effective in solo queue, he still has the ability to make great plays, some of whihc will make or break the game.
• Urgot [God Tier Top] - Although top lane nowadays is generally more of a farm and TP lane than a high impact lane, Urgot's an exception. He's a kill threat to every champion in the game, and continues to be dangerous even if the enemy laner tries to build defensively.
