Hey everyone and welcome back to the Top Team Comp series! With the change to Grievous Wounds, it now only applies to self-healing. This combines well with the fact that Spirit Visage changed a few patches ago and now increases healing from ALL sources.
It turns out, this makes the perfect recipe for a healing composition centered around stacking heals. Relying on their powerful poke and sustain skills, this team is surprisingly mobile and packs quite a punch with stacking AOE CCs.

Champions
Varus [ADC] - Any marksman can fit in this team composition, but Varus performs especially well. As a poke based champion that also has an AOE CC, he chains very well with Sona as a secondary initiation while the enemy team is still dancing in place.
Sona [Mid] - In terms of sheer AOE heal, few can match a 40% CDR Sona. This combined with her powerful synergy with Lichbane gives this team insane tower pushing abilities and excellent burst damage. Her team mobility via her E also gives them chasing power on a short cooldown. [More on Sona Mid here]
Soraka [Support] - The queen supreme when it comes to healing power, Soraka synergizes extremely well with Sona as each heal Sona gives Soraka allows Soraka to heal a ton more. Again, with the nerf on Grievous Wounds, the two of them combined are unstoppable unless you can CC them down at the same time.
Nidalee [Jungler] - Another heal based jungler and excellent poke champion in her own right, Nidalee is a very flexible champion that works well with this team. Combined with Varus, the two of them can easily deal enough mixed poke damage at long range to be more than a mere nuisance.
Dr. Mundo [Top Laner] - As a champion that already synergizes extremely well with Spirit Visage, placing Mundo on this team means that he will be unkillable late game. He also provides excellent short cooldown peel and a front line to keep the enemy divers in check. Late game, he also provides enough bulk to easily backdoor two nexus turrets with his team healing if they are lacking in creeps.
Key Concepts
- Team fights are the forte of this team composition, and you will want to fight together to make full use of its power.
- Be patient, against most teams this one can easily poke their way to victory.
Countering
Countering this team is a matter of picking them off individually and making sure you have enough burst to destroy them before they can react.
Here is an example team that may succeed:
Here is an example team that may succeed:
- Kassadin [Mid] - An anti-mage champion, he can trade well with Sona when need be. Late game, his burst and roam ability should be able to take out lone targets.
- Sejuani [Jungle] - Although her burst is not terribly high, the ability to CC multiple targets from a range is crucial to beating down the enemy team. If you cannot get Soraka and Sona both CC'd at the same time, it is almost impossible to kill the rest of the team.
- Rengar [Top] - When it comes to assassins, few do as well as well as Rengar. As a manaless top laner with a built-in heal he is also able to do decently well against Mundo as well.
- Blitzcrank [Support] - Against a Soraka, you need a way to pick out the best line away from the rest of the group. Just be careful not to pull Sona into a stacked team.
- Miss Fortune [ADC] - A marksman with excellent range, she has the ability to destroy every member of the team equally hard via her ultimate.
