With that being said, it looks like Tahm Kench is quickly rising to the top as a flex pick, and Soraka/Tristana are strangely enough considered two of the best bot lane champions now. • This tier list details which champions are most popular in today's current metagame, for better or for worse. Selecting a high popularity champion and doing mediocre is always favorable to selecting a low tier champion and doing mediocre for team morale.

God Tier: These champions are common bans and are likely perceived as being "overall extremely strong/broken". They have very obvious and/or flashy skills that make them appear stronger than other champions. You'll likely see these champions picked early on if they're not banned.

Tier 1: These champions are the ones you'll see in the majority of your games and are good to familiarize yourself with as you'l be battling against them a lot.

Tier 2: These champions are relatively strong and have historically been picked more often than other champions. They may have been nerfed at one point at another, but are still perceived as strong in their current states.

Tier 3: These champions aren't quite as popular as the rest of the champions in the first 3 tiers, but picking them one at a time isn't going to cause much of a concern on your team. However, if you have a team of 5 of them your teammates are likely to feel a bit uneasy about your chances of winning in solo queue.

Tier 4: Selecting these champions will likely cause a rift between you and your teammates, who will proceed to flame you if you fail your lane. Exercise caution when selecting these champions, as team morale often plays a big part in victory or defeat.

Champion Explanations

• Ekko [Tier 1 Mid] - Tank Ekko in the jungle is still very popular, but as far as Ekko mid is concerned, he's definitely seeing a large resurgence. As a faster, more agile, and more powerful version of Zilean, timekeeper 2.0 is loving the outplays.
• Ezreal [Tier 3 Mid] - As Faker plays Ezreal less than less, it becomes more and more apparently that Ezreal mid really isn't very strong right now, especially not as an AP. Still fun to play and viable providing you can hit all your skillshots, he's just not popular at the moment.
• Gangplank [Tier 1 Top] - Despite nerfs, Gangplank remains a high priority pick due to his ease of play and potential one-shots late game. His split pushing power is also extremely high as he's one of the few champions that kept a global ultimate after years of nerfs.
• Gangplank [Tier 2 Mid] - As a mid laner Gangplank actually plays remarkably similar to Gangplank top, but with more emphasis on his burst damage and poking roles rather than his ultimate's utility.
• Riven [Tier 1 Top] - Statistically, Riven is closer to God Tier than Tier 1. However, to compete with the likes of Darius in terms of popularity might be blasphemous.
• Soraka [Support God] - Currently at a point where she actually draws bans from enemy teams. Fairly surprisingly for a more passive based support, it speaks volumes about her current strength.
• Tahm Kench [Tier 1 Support] - An extremely powerful flex pick at the moment, Tahm Kench is one of the more frustrating supports on the rift. Through his excellent scaling, he provides surprisingly high damage for a pure tank champion.
• Tahm Kench [Tier 1 Jungle] - Continuously on the rise as a jungler, Tahm Kench plays similarly to the old Mundo, dealing percentage based damage, excellent slows, and is almost impossible to kill. Where Ekko is Zilean 2.0, Tahm Kench is basically Mundo 2.0.
• Tristana [Tier 1 ADC] - One of the most hotly contested AD carries in arranged team fights, she's also considered very strong in solo queue. However, she doesn't draw nearly as many bans as the god tier AD carries, as she's much more of a standard team/objective oriented AD carry.
• Veigar [God Tier Mid] - Possibly one of the most hated champions on the rift at the moment, many banshee veils are undergoing production to deal with this yordle menace. Sigh...black magic...
