This team comp focuses on walls and wall utility. By utilizing Jarvan and Anivia to create impassable terrain, they can funnel people into extremely narrow areas to maximize their CC and damage. Where they lack in single target damage, Vayne more than makes up for by her lonesome.
Ever since they changed the way walls interact with champion spells in Patch 4.16, the Gnar + Jarvan ultimate has been very popular in professional play.

Champions
Vayne [Marksman] - As a single target champion beast, Vayne cleans mops up the stragglers like no other. Her condemn also works on both Anivia and Jarvan's wall as of Patch 4.16, meaning that she has plenty of angles for sweet condemns during a teamfight.
Anivia [Mid] - An insanely strong AOE type mage who incidentally has an ultimate the exact shape of Jarvan's ultimate, Anivia can quickly slaughter enemy teams who sit too long in her ultimate, whether they want to be there or not.
Nautilus [Support] - Naut's ability to chain CC multiple targets quickly escalates when they're clumped close together. After a strong combo by Gnar, it's a simple affair to target one somewhat farther away and end up with knock-ups spreading through the entire enemy team.
Jarvan IV [Jungler] - The wall king himself, with an ultimate formerly coded as minions (it may still be coded as minions? But MORE minions!) Originally it was highly bugged and did not act as terrain, meaning champions like Poppy could not activate their moves against it. However, with the changes made in Season 4, his wall acts as any normal wall would, allowing these sick plays to occur.
Gnar [Top Laner] - As a champion who has both the ability to jump into Jarvan's ultimate at will and also utilize the close corridors inside, Gnar has a guaranteed stun chance on anyone inside the cataclysm, resulting in a very strong engagement that both bunches up the enemies and simultaneously CCs them.
Key Concepts
- This team should rely on Jarvan's initiation, and Jarvan should wait for Gnar's rage bar to start filling up.
- The way this team operates means that Vayne will likely not need much peel. However, if necessarily, Nautilus should be on peel duty as he has the highest amount of CC, but it's relatively slow. compared to J4 and Gnar's initiation.
Countering
Beating a dive team like this simply revolves around good counter engage and tank slaying prowess.
Here's an example team that may succeed:
Here's an example team that may succeed:
- Lux [Mid] - With J4 relying on mega Gnar follow-up, Lux can easily end the combo by making sure to aim for Gnar with her snare when he's close to transforming. She also has excellent poke, which is good for punishing prior to the enemy team's all-in.
- Warwick [Jungle] - Warwick does massive amounts of damage via his on hit, and can easily take damage, and dish enough to take down tanks extremely quickly. Initial burst damage doesn't mean much either once he's sated and is proccing double lifesteal every other hit.
- Yorick [Top] - A good bully early, Yorick also makes sure that even if your AD carry gets targetted down too early, they can still dish out a good amount of damage via Yorick's ultimate.
- Janna [Support] - Master peeler herself, Janna can knock Gnar away mid jump, keeping him from wrecking your team.
- Tristana [ADC] - If Janna ultimate fails to peel hard enough, Tristana's ultimate is also an excellent method to prevent Gnar from getting too close, and can even be input buffered.
