With Kha'Zix back and better than ever on Summoner's Rift, I figured now would be a good time to bring pull up a couple old favorites and drop them into the mix. The resulting team composition is extremely balanced, hardy, and difficult to itemize against.

Theme
With Kha'Zix back and better than ever on Summoner's Rift, I figured now would be a good time to bring pull up a couple old favorites and drop them into the mix. The resulting team composition is extremely balanced, hardy, and difficult to itemize against.Champions
Graves [Marksman] - Any marksman (or woman) would work well here, but preferably someone with with more AOE spells to synergize with the rest of the team. The majority of the kills will likely go to Kha'Zix anyway, so ideally you'll want someone who's not too single target focused or it's a waste of potential damage.
Orianna [Mid] - A tried and true cornerstone of the mid lane, Orianna gives Malphite and/or Kha'Zix tankiness and extreme comboing potential.
Vel'Koz [Support] - What this team has in burst damage, they're slightly lacking in poke damage. As arguably the strongest long range poke support in the game, Vel'Koz fits the nitch nicely.
Kha'Zix [Jungler] - What wombo combos generally lack is short cooldown single-target damage to finish off all those low HP champions at the end of the combo. Here's where Kha'Zix and his insane jump resets come in handy. With his current status coming back as a strong jungler, all that gold goes to good use.
Malphite [Top Laner] - Playing Kha'Zix jungle does take away one source of possible initiation. However, by putting Malphite into the mix, his initiation is really all you need.
Key Concepts
- This team may find that the majority of the gold is feeding into Kha'Zix. This isn't necessarily a bad thing.
- Mid-game is when this team is strongest. However, late game Orianna and Kha'Zix can still hold their own against even the strongest of foes.
- If you're focusing on a lane to snowball, aim for bot lane as their early game is strongest and also purely damage based. The other two lanes will be useful even if they fall slightly behind.
Countering
To counter this team, a team with strong death denying power works well to stop the Kha'Zix resets and prevent excess damage.
Here's an example team that may succeed:
Here's an example team that may succeed:
- Talon [Mid] - Core damage of this counterteam, his ability to take down backline squishies and instantaneous jump allows him to make sure Vel'Koz and Graves should have packed a little more tanky utility into their bot lane.
- Gragas [Jungle] - With his tanky nature and excellent disengage, Gragas also carries the possibility of knocking Orianna out of her ball range, ruining their combo.
- Lulu [Top] - The ultimate weapon in death denying capabilities, Lulu is also an excellent lane bully against Malphite, who has a somewhat punishable laning phase.
- Taric [Support] - With his passive armor buff, Taric may provide just the thing your team needs to stay alive. This combined with his powerful heal and natural Face of the Mountain build allows him to perform well against the team above.
- Ezreal [ADC] - With the amount of danger the Malphite ultimate puts the team in, any chance to stop your AD carry from instantly dying is worth it.

How well would brand work as a support for this comp? Same idea of a high base damage mage albeit with less cc.
ReplyDeletethis works!
ReplyDeleteIMB4 gay jokes about enemy botlane.
ReplyDeleteI think Vel is there less for damage and more for his strong poke, which Brand in my experience has a good deal less of. Plus Vel's naturally good AOE goes really well with Ori and Malph for helping burn through the enemy team.
ReplyDeleteMalphite+Orianna is a tried and true ball delivery system. Add Vel'Koz and Graves ults and Kha'Zix might not even need to do anything
