Introduction
A motley crew of high durability champions, this team contains some of the least popular champions on the rift until lately, when they've all experienced a strong surge of popularity!Despite mostly being seen played in a solo lane, Urgot can still do quite decently as an AD carry given the right circumstances. Although he's usually paired with something like a Riven or a Fiora top in team compositions, he also fits quite nicely into this one as well with his strong durability and good lock-down abilities.
Theme(s)
This team operates mostly as a high sustain, strong CC composition that's exceedingly durable in teamfights and when tower diving. Compared to traditional team compositions with more glass cannons, it does lack some burst damage, but the sustain damage it puts out is extraordinary.
CC Ability - Each of these champions has multiple sources of CC, allowing them to keep otherwise mobile champions in place long enough to get hammered down.
Strong vs AOE Comps - Most AOE damage is balanced by being weaker than single target spells. However, combined with Maokai ult and the insane amount of sustain this team has, burst AOE mages will have deep trouble trying to make damage stick to champions like Volibear and Swain.
Tower Diving Ability - With an entire team of beefcakes, anyone can initiate a dive and not worry about stragglers being left behind.

Key Concepts
- Make sure to coordinate who's getting what item. You'll likely end up with multiple sunfire capes and randuins, but at least one person should pick up a Frozen Heart and a Locket as well.
- Swain is your strongest damage dealer on this team, snowballing him or Urgot if your best bet. The rest of the team can be effective even when behind.
- Watch out for mobile percentage damage dealers.
Countering
In order to beat this team, champions with strong percentage based damage, high mobility, and CC of their own will do well.
Here's an example team that may succeed:
Here's an example team that may succeed:
- Ahri - Percentage based AOE true damage and excellent disengage.
- Amumu - Strong CC and good AOE percentage based damage.
- Sion - Fight fire with fire, bring out a front line tank of your own.
- Janna - Keep your team moving fast and out of harm's way.
- Vayne - Insanely good percentage based damage, just watch out for those thornmails and the early game vs Urgot + Nautilus.

ReplyDeleteWhy Nautilus and not Thresh or Leona? I'd pick them because they're tanky still but have better engage and CC. Unless you think otherwise, I haven't played Nautilus myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Galio mid?
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't build as much tank as Swain does.
ReplyDeleteI go full AP Swain, totally viable
ReplyDeleteNautilus cc is more reliable because its not a skill shot.
ReplyDeleteSwain is full AP, Galio is more tanky...
ReplyDeleteIn my experience, Galio builds things like morellos/athenes and full ap while Swain builds RoA and ap with something like a spirit visage.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Health based shield is good for soaking up damage.
ReplyDeleteAhri has percentage based damage?
ReplyDeleteYou haven't seen many good Galios, then. Ideally Galio wants things that give high amounts of both AP and MR, or health and MR. Spirit Visage is godly on him because of Bulwark, Athene's is all-around good for everything Galio needs(AP, MR, CDR, and great mana regen), Abyssal is good for his short-ranged AOE damage. Merc treads, Zhonya's, and either Rabcap or more tank round out his ideal full build. Galio's primary draw isn't strength as a mage, but his ability to counter other mages, especially DoT-oriented ones because of Bulwark's healing. If you build him full damage that's all kind of wasted tbh and you'd be better off with someone else for your midlaner.
