Check out the newest in the Twisted Treeline Tier List Series! This update features strong move ups from the usual suspects from the solo queue map, along with some old favorites
SEASON 5 - December - PATCH 5.4 RANKED 3'S TIER LIST
THE TWISTED TREELINE
Introduction
As per popular demand, we're back with more updates for the Twisted Treeline! While I'm by no means a guru on the Twisted Treeline I do enjoy playing the game mode quite a bit and hope that they'll move the solo queue 3v3 over from the PBE servers to the live servers some day.
That being said, take this tier list with a grain of salt and feel free to engage in open debate in the comment section with your own thoughts and comments. As the game mode isn't all that popular right now, hopefully this list will help spur some of you to try it out!
Current List Updates
With nerfs on Jarvan in the latest patch, he's falling slightly out of favor, but his huge utility and team-fighting potential still keeps him at the top for Twisted Treeline purposes. Meanwhile, Lissandra's claimed the throne at the top after nerfs on Ahri and Azir. Check out the full list below!Current Metagame
Right now there are two main methods of playing Twisted Treeline:- Duo top with a support like Leona or Annie
- Two solo lanes with a jungler
Based off of this, I'm splitting this tier list into "roles" similar to the solo queue 5s list. However, as there are only 3 positions open, I won't be including every champion into this list. If you feel that I've missed out on a strong champion, please let me know and I'll include it in the next update.

AD/AP Positioning
Due to the way the map is arranged, bot lane is generally considered the "safer" lane, so the solo laner almost always goes here. However, as this game mode is somewhat uncommon, you may see teams send two champions to bot lane. As a result, it's generally best to send an AP bot with long range waveclear, as these champions can deal with both 1v1 and 1v2 lanes. This means that for the most part, the AD based champion will go top. However, swapping these around isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it's a good idea to make sure that you have a mix of damage types so that the enemy team can't easily itemize against you.
Champion Explanations
- Azir [Tier 2 AP] - After nerfs to Azir, he's dropped significantly in the rankings. However, since his utility and ability to control choke points in Twisted Treeline is still fairly good, he's still a somewhat viable choice if you're good enough at him.
- Diana [Tier 1 AP] - Diana's recent buffs have brought her up a little combined with the fact that others have been nerfed. As an AOE reset queen, she does very well in 2v2 and 3v3.
- Graves [God Tier AD] - As a high burst damage AOE champion that gets naturally very tanky, Graves currently excels on the rift as he's for the most part, stronger than other marksmen at the moment.
- Kalista [Tier 1 AD] - Kalista on paper does deserve a higher ranking, but the fact that she performs more kiting and less burst damage does reduce her effectiveness somewhat. If she can't kill fast enough to save her teammates, even she has trouble in a 1v2 situation.
- Kassadin [Tier 2 AP] - After large nerfs on his riftwalk, I'm not sure he still deserves a spot on the list, but he should be getting buffed shortly.
- Lissandra [God Tier AP] - As mentioned earlier, nerfs on Ahri and Azir have brought Lissandra to a whole new level of power. Morgana runs a close second as a counter, but Lissandra does well in most situations.
- Lulu [Tier 1 AP] - Similar to Lissandra, nerfs on other champions have brought this utility fiend back into popularity and strength in Twisted Treeline.
- Maokai [God Tier Jungle] - With nerfs on Jarvan, Maokai is a strong contender in God Tier for both jungle and top lane. With his strong sustain and skirmishing strength, he does very well in his home in the twisted treeline.
- Olaf [God Tier Melee] - Olaf is a very underrated champion in threes. His damage and chasing potential are extremely high, and due to the nature of the map, he has a lot of room to run down enemies and many bushes to stop them from kiting him, even when his ult is down.
- Sion [God Tier Melee] - Sion does very well on this map at the moment due to his high waveclear, strong CC, and extremely durable constitution.
- Yasuo [God Tier Melee] - Yasuo is still very strong, but I have a feeling his success is still largely due to good support from his teammates in the form of knockups. Ideally, if you can pick him up with Wukong and or Malphite, things should go very well. However, I don't think he can be instapicked in the first round.
- The purpose of this list is for discussion and to provide a starting point for hero selection.
Thanks for the list! Glad to see the 3v3's list getting a lot more updates as of late!
ReplyDeleteMan I gotta get back to 3's, Olaf is good somewhere now and I never played it competitively. If anyone needs a Silver Scrub on their 3's team HMU.
ReplyDeleteI was one of the guys who requested this update and i'm very glad that you did it :) Much appreciated man!
ReplyDeleteWukong is both in Tier 1 and God Tier...problem ?
ReplyDeleteI take it the nerfs didn't hit Jarvan as hard here as on the Rift?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update!
ReplyDeletehecarim not on this list?
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thanks for the update!
ReplyDeleteYAY! I am a Twisted Treeline main (not enough decent friends to play ranked 5s) and I LOVE seeing these tier lists. Always gives me something to think about!
ReplyDeleteJarvan was always strong on Twisted Treeline even when he wasn't on the rift, the CC and terrain changing abiilities he provides are very valuable in a small skirmish setting.
ReplyDeleteHe's definitely viable, but nobody's really been playing him on Twisted Treeline. I'll add him to the list anyway
ReplyDeleteKarma is both tier 1 and tier 2 support xD
ReplyDeleteTHANKS SSJ <3
ReplyDeleteMorgana doesnt deserve god tier as ap she deserve max. tier 3 also u missed nmaokai support in god tier and shaco jungle in god tier
ReplyDeleteI'm looking to make a team. Im silver too :p. ign is EggsD
ReplyDeleteMorgana currently has the second highest win rate of any AP with a significant number of games played. Purely meta-wise, she has one of the best if not the best level 1-3 pushing power in the game with an extremely long stun at rank 1. Her ultimate is also extremely powerful, and with the removal of blackfire torch she's only gotten stronger in comparison to other mages.
ReplyDeleteI actually haven't seen Maokai support yet, so I'm not sure how to rank that. Shaco's extremely good right now, and should maybe move up. I find his late game very hit or miss, but it's true that he snowballs early extremely hard and his map control via his wards is very strong. I'll move him up a bit, but I'm hardpressed to say he's definitely god tier at the moment.
The thing about morgana is yea she can push rly hard but there is 1 problem she has no safe dmg her w gets useless if u dont hit the q wich is kinda easy to dodge also her cooldowns are too high since 3v3 is all about the early game i dont think shes strong at all especially because i never lost vs morgana or got outpushed.
ReplyDeletewe wil try heca! ill tell u how he feels
ReplyDelete3 days of tier list and 5.5 is out...
ReplyDeleteWhere does Kennen sit? He seems like he would be valuable in the closed confines of Treeline with his poke and aoe wombo.
ReplyDeleteyeah i just played a game and it was pretty good
ReplyDeleteFix 3v3 bugs pls. Also there isn't Luden item, 120 Ap 7% movement speed
ReplyDelete"Wombo" comps aren't as effective on TT due to the skirmish-y nature of fights. That being said, kennen is still very good. The AP item is made for him with deathcap and zhonyas combined.
ReplyDeleteHe just isn't as strong when his ult is down as lissandra or Cass are (and a few others). tier 1 or 2 deserving though.
but akali?
ReplyDeleteWhere is the annie AP top?
ReplyDeleteNida is god as jungler, but I need an information, in the first clear what abilities I should use ? And from witch camp I should start for don't die ?
ReplyDeletei would wanna know why you rate irelia so low? i play her often at ~plat4 3er elo and i think she is REALLY strong against most combos :)
ReplyDeleteWhat happened to amu?
ReplyDeleteWhere is Twisted Fate?
ReplyDeleteNeed the new updates, My team is so lost ;-;
ReplyDeleteUpdate plz !
ReplyDeleteHeimerdinger?
ReplyDeleteI feel he deserves a place on here as his 1v1 or 1v2 sustain is great on tt.
Maokai is good also at supp
ReplyDeleteUpdate the list, please!
ReplyDeleteThe list,Update please
ReplyDeletePlz, can you explain where AD ranged goes ? They substitute with the ap or with the ad melee ?
ReplyDeleteupdate pls
ReplyDeletehey man, a update here after the new patches would be awesome :) thx!
ReplyDeletegenerally the supp should go on lane with adc, pealing him and helping im get stronger by farmin ;) but anyways its a small map and a fast rotate is done in seconds, while your adc can still farm alone and join in for a relic/altar fight or something else like counter jungling after pushing both lanes to tower :) hope that helps you
ReplyDeleteadvise of mine, start with the extended jungler item (imo purple smite) - youll be at the wraith camp in time, but dont smite it. use smite on wolves which you do as sec camp. get w first, and nuke the camps with cat jumps. get q sec and try a early gank after wolves. take the heal, altar do last camp back ;) like the way i would do
ReplyDeleteWill this be updated any time soon :)
ReplyDeleteupdate plsss
ReplyDeleteUpdate pls :)
ReplyDeletePls update!
ReplyDeletePls update to 3v3
