How useful am I?
TSM's Chaox and CLG's Doublelift (two of NA's best AD carries) have completely different views on Wriggle's Lantern. Chaox swears by the lantern's light and declares that it's almost a must on AD carries as a result of the dragon control and advantages it gives to bot laners in the current meta. Meanwhile, Doublelift vehemently opposes the lantern, and declares it to be "a waste of money"
So let's look at the pros and cons of wriggles lantern as they break it down:
Pros: (Chaox)
- Easy Dragon/Baron control via the ward + Minion procs
- Easier last hitting
- Armor to mitigate the opposing AD carry's damage in lane
- Lifesteal + Damage, both useful to AD carries
Cons: (Doublelift)
- B.F. Sword gives 45 damage vs 23 damage from wriggles for 50 gold more
- Lifesteal from scepter can be built into Bloodthirster for more damage
So basically, Doublelift concentrates on damage to heroes and playing offensively while Chaox seems to prefer working on team objectives and maximizing his utility in teamfights by building a little defense.
In the end it's up to your own preference on which one to use, since it seems like both are equally viable in gameplay. If your support isn't buying wards, wriggles could be a good choice. If you have good communication with your jungler and want to try and sneak a dragon, wriggles could also be a good choice. Be sure to follow up with an Infinity Edge then Zeal if you do.
On the other hand, if you're snowballing and want to keep rolling, BF sword -> Bloodthirster first could be a better choice, followed by a Zeal, and then your Infinity Edge.
